FIFTH GRADE
Goals: The goal at this level is place the various elements of Arkansas history, geography, economy, as well as social and political life into a solid chronological framework to demonstrate how these factors interact to produce the complex society within which we live.
Text: Arkansas: From Then to Now
Support: The basic text includes an Introduction along with eight chapters which consider different chronological segments of Arkansas history. It is intended that this text be used over the course of a semester with Unit plans and lesson plans provided for each of the separate chapters. Each Unit plan is focused on an original story supported by supplemental information (sidebars), a selection of primary materials, and graphics.
